In road.cc, every product has been thoroughly tested, as long as you can correctly understand its working conditions. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists and we believe they are objective. Although we strive to ensure that the opinions expressed are supported by facts, the comments are essentially an informed opinion, not a final ruling. We will not deliberately try to destroy anything (except locks), but we do try to find any weaknesses in the design. The total score is not just the average of the other scores: it reflects the function and value of the product-the value depends on how the product compares with items of similar specifications, quality, and price.

Good grades are more common than bad, because fortunately good products are more common than bad.

This Orro Terra C Ekar has a 13-tooth flywheel. Compared with some brands, its two smallest sprockets have advantages in gear size. This fits well with Orro's energetic gravel intent-if you want to put your power on the road between the two. Coupled with its interesting handling and comfort, while still providing load at the front of the rigidity, this gravel bike is the best bike I have ever ridden. It also looks very sweet.

Although I like to put some camping equipment on my bike or to travel long distances on some rugged off-road trails, I am the most interesting in the shorter rides, and those two or three hours of riding time are as little as possible. I like speed and efficiency, so I spend a lot of time on the road.

Orro's off-road performance is like I would like a road bike to perform on the tarmac. Make a violent impact on the local roads, it is flexible, and the handling feels fast and accurate; you feel that you are part of Orro, not sitting on it. This is why I think Terra C is such an interesting bike; it is more like a gravel racer than an outright adventure machine, and I like it.

The 8.75 kg weight feels very uncomfortable-it can be flicked if you want-and close the large gravel route to the winding single track through the woods or other technical parts, you can really have a good time.

This depends largely on geometry. The head tube angle of this medium-sized model is 71 degrees, and when paired with a 1,031 mm wheelbase, Orro shows a confident posture on the track. Even if the surface moves below you, it will not panic. It will almost stimulate you to have fun, if everything goes wrong, don't worry, we have this.

For road riders transitioning to gravel, Orro is the ideal partner. The steering feel is still fast, and the 74.2-degree seat angle puts you in a good forward position to reduce power.

The stiffness is also obvious. Orro chose a press-in bottom bracket, which may not be everyone’s taste-especially on the bike you may see a lot of dust, dirt and water, which can cause entry and creaking-but in all I have ridden Terra Cs I did not encounter any problems, most of the mileage I drove on this car was on wet and muddy roads.

Pressing the bottom bracket bearings into the frame instead of letting them sit outside does allow Orro to increase the width of the frame, increasing stiffness without affecting the width between the cranks (q factor).

Step on the pedals to climb, you will not feel tired; there is no waste of electricity. The huge width of the down tube, the wide BB shell joints and the thick chainstays (the drive side is lowered for extra clearance) allow it to quickly get off the mark, even from standing up.

The front of the head tube is tapered, which increases rigidity. I can't blame the fork for its tension.

It is worth mentioning that Orro designs its own molds instead of buying off-the-shelf carbon fiber parts to make bicycles. This is a huge investment, especially when you offer five sizes, but it does allow Orro to control the tube shape and thus the overall ride quality.

Through design and carbon fiber laminate, Orro managed to provide a sturdy bike that does not exceed the standard in terms of comfort or lack of comfort. Terra C is a sturdy bike, but I never find it uncomfortable, even when I use 38mm tires to pump hard on the road. It absorbs a lot of surface vibration, but still provides the feel of a high-performance bicycle.

I don't want to say that Terra C is going to crush it here, there, and anywhere. You can have this performance if you want, but if you go out during the day, or even take longer short trips, this is a pleasant place.

As I said, the comfort level is good, so you will never be beaten, and those gentle handling characteristics allow you to complete the mileage without any mental fatigue even at full load.

My main gravel test route is a three-hour remote area. I'm not too far away from civilization, but I can ride the whole ring and see there may be two or three people, and a strange army convoy. What's worse now is that I ride in the dark most of the time. This means I need to carry a lot of kits: bags, upper tube bags and seat bags for extra clothes, first aid kits and emergency blankets, as well as common tools and food.

> How to pack a bike: an introductory guide

After loading, the behavior of Terra C has not really changed. Yes, it is heavier, but it still has the same interesting characteristics and stable feel. During 90% off-road (grass, chalk, gravel, dirt, etc.) 100 km rides, I can speed up when I need to go downhill, etc., but when I want to relax and enjoy the scenery along Terra C.

One of the biggest concerns of the carbon gravel framework is the impact of stones and so on. I have experienced them and they don't sound pretty, but none of them caused any damage.

To further protect the Terra C frame, Orro added Innegra, a high modulus polypropylene fiber that can be mixed with carbon fiber to provide a high level of impact resistance. It is used in areas such as the bottom of the down tube.

As can be seen from the picture, all cables and hoses of Terra C run internally, not only through the down tube and the top tube, but also through the head tube in the front.

It gives a very clean appearance, prevents branches and other things from sticking to it, and can easily install bar bags and so on.

You can also get a rear rack mount, which can withstand a load of up to 5 kg, a mudguard mount, and a third bottle cage mounting position under the down tube, which can be used with the other two mounting positions in the usual position.

In terms of tire clearance, Terra C may not be the best in its class, with a maximum of 42 mm (700 degrees Celsius), but this is the same as Canyon Grail, which is an equally lively gravel bike.

Orro is still a powerful machine. For the route I ride, I would say that 40mm is the minimum value. I will bounce between 45mm and 45mm depending on the situation, but the standard 38mm Vredestein Aventura tires perform well on dry and crowded trails. Found at the beginning of the test period. However, they can't really cope with the wetter conditions we have seen recently, so I have been using 42mm Specialized Rhombus tires that I tested in 2019.

This is my first time riding Campagnolo's Ekar kit and I like it very much. If I had a choice, I would use a 2x system instead of a 1x system on the gravel bike to meet my riding style. My own machine has a 48/32 chainring with an 11-32T flywheel. The main reason I do this is that I still want high-end, because most gravel rides are done on some roads, and I like to keep the cadence range as close as possible around 90-95rpm. I found that some 1x cassette tapes are too gapped.

Ekar is 13-speed, the flywheel option here is 9-42T, and its operating mode is: 9-10-11-12-13-14-16-18-20-23-27-31-36. With a 40T chainring, it provides 122 and 26.1 gear inches of high and low gears respectively.

As you can see, the higher end of the cassette has tight groupings, which I find very useful for high-speed sections, while the lower gears do have some very big jumps, when you use them for climbing, it It's not that obvious.

Putting on some 32mm tankers, I found that this kind of transmission works well on the road, which means that Terra C Ekar can be used as a winter commuter car very well, equipped with protective devices, you can quickly change wheels or tires on weekends, so you can Playing with gravel on the highway.

The function of the kit is usually Campagnolo. If you haven’t used it before, its action will feel heavy compared to Shimano or SRAM. In the early miles, I found it a bit difficult to make all the gears on the flywheel run smoothly, but everything is fine 35 miles By car.

For those who have not had close contact with the Campag kit, it uses the lever behind the brake lever to shift gears, as well as the thumb shifter on the inside of the hood.

On the road, the thumb shifter is a flat button, but for Ekar, it is made bigger, allowing you to easily enter from the hood and the drop when you bounce on a bumpy surface.

One thing about Ekar is that it does not have the flat front part on the brake levers I like on Shimano GRX. When you brake hard on rough terrain, the larger the cross-sectional area, the better. But other than that, I can't really blame it. Once in, the shifting feels smooth and the braking is superb.

You can read more in our full review of the kit.

Orro chose a Deda front end with a zero 1 stem and impressive Gravel100 flared handlebars. I like the shape of this bar, it is also a high-quality tool bag. If you want to read more, I have reviewed it separately.

Both the carbon fiber seatpost and the Bostal Plus saddle are branded Orro. Although I like the short-nosed saddle very much in many rides, I have a good attitude towards the latter.

For wheels, Orro did not use a set of Fulcrum Rapid Red 5s to launch ships in large numbers, but they did lower the price.

I have no problems riding them-they don't feel too heavy, and they don't take anything away from the ride-and they look reliable. However, if you want to reduce some weight, or just add a little bling, you can upgrade the wheels from Scribe or Hunt wheels to carbon fiber without spending a lot of money.

Ekar is not a cheap kit. If you want to use an electric bike and spend the same money, you can buy other bikes with similar finishing specifications as the Terra C equipped with GRX Di2, such as Canyon Grail CF SL 8 equipped with DT Swiss G1800 wheels.

Canyon’s Grizl CF SLX 8 is equipped with Ekar, but with carbon fiber DT Swiss wheels, which brings the price up to £4,499.

> 12 best road bikes with Campagnolo

You can buy GT Grade Carbon Pro for less than £300, which is equipped with GRX 810, Stan's No Tubes alloy wheels and Praxis carbon fiber chain set; you will also get a dropper.

> The 19 best gravel bikes and adventure road bikes of 2021

The new Giant Revolt Advanced 0 (I reviewed Advanced 2 last year) is also equipped with a GRX 810 kit, which is priced at £3,499, but you can get carbon fiber wheels.

I am a big fan of Terra C, and I think the Ekar kit brings extra speed to complement it, especially if you want to use it for commuting tasks or use it as a multi-surface travel machine. As a complete stone crusher, it offers ideal geometry, fun and confident on loose surfaces, which makes it a powerful bicycle.

For those who want to speed up off the beaten track, this is a great bike that will happily carry your gear for longer adventures

Tell us the purpose and target audience of this bicycle. What is the manufacturer's comment on this? How does this compare to how you feel about bicycles?

Orro said: "Thanks to the innovative Campagnolo Ekar gravel optimization group, the lightest Terra C we created also has a variable speed range that can open up your riding potential. The motto of the entire Ekar package, combining strength and weight ingeniously, is A common value in the design process between us and Terra C. Orro Terra C Ekar is finished in our exquisite rainbow dark radiant frame color, limited production, and it is our final specification gravel bicycle product.

Terra C is characterized by its lightweight and responsive ride quality, built with the necessary specifications to provide powerful control on different terrains. The frame geometry is ready for easy descent and turning, inspiring confident off-road handling capabilities. Bring it back to the apron, and the excellent power transmission provided by the carbon fiber laminate will be immediately apparent. Innegra fibers are woven into carbon fibers at key locations to protect the frame from impact damage; this ensures that the "light and fast" design concept meets the durability expected by the rider. Terra C is an adaptable bike designed to ensure that your next adventure, new route or old commute completely explodes. "

The goal of Terra C is the performance side of gravel riding, but it does not sacrifice its adventurous ability when loading and relaxing.

Where is this model within the scope? Simply tell us the cheaper option and the more expensive option

This Campagnolo Ekar model is the top product of the series. The SRAM Rival eTap model will be launched soon, priced at 3,099.99 pounds, followed by the Shimano GRX 800 model, priced at 2,699.99 pounds. Below are three models, all priced at £2,199.99, equipped with Shimano 105 and GRX 600 1x, and SRAM Apex 1x.

Tell us the quality and finish of the frame and front fork?

Well-made and high-quality.

Tell me about the materials used in the frame and fork?

Both the frame and the front fork use carbon fiber in their structure, and add Innegra fiber to enhance the strength against stone impact.

Tell us the geometry of the frame and fork?

The geometry is more aggressive than most gravel/adventure bikes, the steep seat angle and short head tube provide a kind of road position, but the front end is slightly slack and only slightly tamed the steering.

How is the bike in terms of height and range? How does it compare to other bicycles of the same size?

The medium size has a stack of 587mm and a range of 387mm. This gives an overall ratio of 1.55, similar to many endurance road bikes.

Is the bike comfortable to ride? Tell us how you feel about the ride quality.

Considering the stiffness, the comfort is good.

Does the bike feel stiff in the right place? Do you feel any part of the bike is too hard or too flexible?

There is no stiffness problem at all. It can cope with power transmission without feeling harsh.

How does the bicycle transmit power? Do you find it very efficient?

The rigidity of the frame set makes it efficient, thanks to the wide spread of gear ratios.

Are there any toe clips overlapping on the front wheels? If so, is this a problem?

How would you describe the turn? Is it lively, neutral or unresponsive? The off-road is well balanced and will not be dull.

Tell us more about the processing. How does the overall feel of the bike? Is it good or bad for certain things?

The front end of Terra C really allows you to understand the purpose of the bicycle, and the control is fast and does not twitch.

Which components have the greatest impact (good or bad) on bike comfort? Would you recommend any changes?

The Deda handlebars provide many comfortable positions, and I found that saddle plush is good enough for rutted gravel tracks.

Which components have the greatest impact (good or bad) on the stiffness of the bike? Would you recommend any changes?

The carbon fiber Ekar crank provides strong rigidity for riding or climbing work.

Which components have the greatest impact (good or bad) on the efficiency of the bike? Would you recommend any changes?

Ekar offers the same low speed ratio as GRX 1x, but adds a higher gear for the faster part.

Tell us more about the drive system. Is there anything you particularly like or dislike? Any components that don't work well together?

I really like Eka. The ratio range is very good for the 1x system, and I found that the shifting and braking are the same as the best kits on the market.

Tell us more about wheels. Do they work well under the conditions you encounter? Will you change wheels? If it is for what?

The wheels provide good performance and durability.

Tell us more about tires. Do they work well under the conditions you encounter? Will you change tires? If it is for what?

They are good tires and can transfer well between forest roads and roads in summer, but you definitely need more aggressive tires in winter.

Tell us more about the control. Are there any particularly good or bad components? How will the controls work for larger or smaller riders?

Good quality components, especially Deda handlebars that provide a lot of hand positions, and the bell mouth helps to descend quickly when descending.

Do you like to ride a bicycle? Yes

Would you consider buying a bicycle? Yes

Would you recommend this bike to a friend? Yes

How does the price compare to similar bikes on the market (including those tested recently on road.cc)?

There are still not so many bikes equipped with Ekar, and many bikes, such as Canyon Grizl mentioned in the review, are equipped with deep-section carbon fiber wheels; this is an increase of 1Kish over the price of Orro. Grail equipped with GRX Di2 has the same price as Orro and uses alloy DT Swiss wheels; it is electronically shifted, but you lack two gears.

The latest Giant Revolt Advanced 0 is equipped with carbon fiber wheels and costs £3,499, but you can only get the mechanical GRX 810 kit.

Use this box to explain your total score

Due to its very good frame, it is the four stars of Terra C Ekar. Hardcover kits may be considered good value for money, but you have to offset it with the cost of a high-quality Campagnolo kit.
